My Life as Animator for 3years in Malaysia

I am actually a graphic design graduate, but my lecture sent me to a animation production house for training instead of normal advertising company.
So my job life path went astray and now becoming a animator for 3 years.
Ps:The note in the pic said `owarumade, neruna!!` which mean `do not sleep until you are done!` so true for a animator or a manga artist XD

My first job is at Toona sdn bhd company, as a trainee for 3 month before I went back to complete my diploma.
I remembered that time they provide test drawing on the spot and ignored the student port folio, which is nice since my port folio was a mess at that time XD.
Lucky that I used to draw a lot when I still a kid at grandma house. Since at that time I don`t have computer or game, drawing and planting flower was the only thing I could do.
So I been picked as a storyboard assistant to help storyboard leader clean up and check for error since 4 storyboard artist resign at that day ( the amount of people leave per month is amazing, highest record was 12 people resign per month. While shortest period of employee was a girl crying back home on her first day in company, then she no longer found on next day).

First month I do get scolded a lot by leader because I am clueless and done ton of mistake >.< . However as time pass by I begin to get used to it and everything go much more smoothly. Meanwhile I take a peek at animator when I have the free time to do so. There I saw every animator is using pen tablet, so I curious and brought one to use at my house. To master it at shortest period, I decided to throw off my mouse and fully use wacom to even surf net.

3month have passed and I am back to college to finish my diploma. Soon after that I been called back by the same company that I were training at, but this time as a animator. It took me around 4month to get used as animator. Since the company have to produce 8 episode per month with around 30-40 staff, the time line is extremely tight. There time I have to work 24 hours per day (10am to 10am) and fall sick so many time that I cannot even able to count.
Well, there a fun time too… I and my co-worker all link the computer and play Dota game. Soon discovered by boss and after 7 o`clock they disable the router.
However… one of co-worker brought their own router and link them back so that we can play XD.

2years have passed, company is moving to china. Since I don`t have much saving yet (thanks to low salary I am getting) is dangerous to go oversea, not to mention china is quite dangerous with ton of thief. I resigned and taking a break at home.

While I am taking holiday, I happen to stumble upon a online games called Granado Espada.
It have good graphic and hosted by singapore, I decided to try it as I haven`t played much games ever since I working. Since I play everydays, I managed to join a guild called destroth and we become top guild for 4month. The fun parts wasn`t because we was a top guild, but rather a group of friend exploring the area and chatting together was entertaining.
2 of them have become my best online friends and chatting in msn when we are free.

After taking break for 5month… didn`t realize time pass so quickly =.=”. One of my ex Leader in my first company called me to help in new company. Thus I thought, why not? so i interviewed and become a employee in that new company. The company is mainly on courseware/ education project for `Dewan pustaka` ( which is related to goverment company). WOW… unlike my first company which serve under china boss, the pace here is much more slower so I can take it easy. Everydays return home on time, not to mention boss is kind enough to let me surf and watch anime/movie as long my work is finished.
The salary is just so so, but it was nice for me to heal the wound that I gotten when I was working at my first company.

Well… after 1 years ++ , the company is having trouble with the budget since all payments is delayed. I thought recession won`t affect company who working with goverment, I guess I was wrong. So… since boss could no longer pay ours salary, I have no choice but resign.

Okay! is holiday times!
well.. In this holiday I was working with my flash port folio and learn some web related stuff.

A half month later, I get a call from a client that want me to help with his project, thus my freelancing begins. The workload is quite random, when have work it will be a ton. Sometimes don`t even have thing to do, so my profit is random too lol.

after 3 month, the project is snatched by client worker who say he wanted to work with him. hmm.. to explain it I use this graph

Before
Mosti (a company that provide is job) –> representive —> middle man(my client) –>me

after my client hire a (let say is Bman)
Mosti –> representive —> Bman(take over)—>middle man –>me

With the budget just barely enough, now with Bman over it become in much more difficult postion to continue the project…
Not to mention ever since Bman take over, even a storyboard promised long ago until now not yet finished…

After half month nothing to do, I just go to job street website to find some job.
Today I interviewed one company and got hired. Since I got a feeling I won`t be a post much article since I start my job tomorrow…. I decided to post a LONG article before I went MIA (missing in action)

I tried series animation, courseware animation, freelancing and now is time…… as a flash games developer XD.

After seeing ton of article on how a Japan animator suffer from getting low paid…
let alone with wife, some even said can`t even support a girlfriends. Not to mention barely have times to hang out with them.
Well..I well aware I won`t be able to work effective as animator when I am over 40 years old as my eyes sight will be worsen. So.. I am living with low profile and save as much as I could before I reach 40 years old, and use it to establish a small business.

LOL… the article is too damn long , I guess most of reader just skip it XD
